Brazos Bookstore welcomes B.C. Robison and Ron Grimes in-store discussing their book Birds of the Texas Coast: Photographs.
Birds of the Texas Coast: Photographs is a unique contribution to the literature of Texas bird life. With beautiful photographs of more than 200 species and accompanying text, the book presents the beauty and diversity of the coast’s bird life within the framework of its six major habitats.
Each chapter is devoted to a specific habitat and a representative selection of the birds frequently encountered there– wetlands, lakes and bays, sandy shores, grasslands, woodlands, and the Lower Rio Grande Valley. Extended captions accompany each photograph. Two introductions set the stage: B. C. Robison describes the nature of Texas coastal environments and future concerns regarding climate change and Ron Grimes discusses the methods and challenges of bird photography. Gary Clark, author of the Book of Texas Birds and long-time nature columnist for the Houston Chronicle, provides the Foreword. Renowned wildlife illustrator Linda M. Feltner produced the beautiful map of the coast.
The back of the book contains useful information on birding locations, organizations, and festivals and events, as well as a discussion of recommended bird books and maps.
